Set your first budget

Budgets are the most-used governance tool in GreyScape.ai. You can set them at four scopes — org, team, project, user — and they all enforce at the same alert thresholds (75% warning, 100% hard).

Steps

1Go to /finance/budgets and click 'New budget'.
2Pick the scope. For a first budget, 'org' is the right choice — it's the catch-all cap.
3Enter the monthly cap in USD. For most mid-market companies, $5,000-$25,000/month is a reasonable starting cap.
4Pick the notification email (defaults to the owner; can be overridden).
5Save. The budget takes effect immediately. The dashboard now shows 'X% of org cap used' in the header.
6At 75% utilisation, the budget owner gets an email alert. At 100%, the alert escalates and the dashboard flags the budget as 'Over'.

Watch-outs

Budgets do not BLOCK API calls. They alert. If you need hard enforcement, use the approval workflow + per-user service-account keys.
Multiple budgets stack. A user inside an over-capped team is still over-capped at the user level — the 100% mark hits when ANY of the matching budgets crosses.
Budgets reset at the start of each calendar month, in the timezone set at /settings/workspace.
